This is a weekend full of fundraising and action to raise money for Cancer Research UK; all the money we raise goes towards the new Manchester Cancer Research Centre, opposite The Christie Hospital.
Delta have been involved in this 24 hour event for over ten years, providing free hire of our public address equipment as well as gazebos, lights and many other useful things! In fact we love Relay so much that we are on the committee!
Relay for Life is an event where teams fundraise all year round and come together one weekend a year for the 'relay', where we walk together in teams as a relay for 24 hours: 12 midday - 12 midday. Cancer doesn't sleep and nor do we.
This hugely rewarding charity experience rasied over £84,000 in 2016!
More About Relay:
Relay for Life brings you and your town together to help beat cancer.
Throughout the year teams fundraise in their local communities to support the work of Cancer Research UK. The for the relay weekend, everyone joins together in an inspiring overnight celebration and commemoration that the whole community can be a part of!
Relay events focus on fun for all the family, regardless of age or fitness level - everyone is welcome (and we promise the best weekend of the year!).
At the event, everybody gathers at their local track, stadium or sports field and take turns walking laps each team keeps at least one member on the track at all times for 24 hours!
Relay events have a friendly, festival like atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy. Camping, music, stall and entertainment will be laid on and most teams taking part camp overnight.
Relay for Life Stockport lasts 24 hours, runs overnight and included a Survivor's Lap of Honour and a moving Candle of Hope Ceromony at night time.
You can take part in your local Relay as a Team Captain, a team Member or Survivor. If you want to start a team, you'll need to become a Team Captain or ask someone you know to become one and then join their team as a Team Member!
Relay for Life Stockport supports the global fight against cancer by investing in Cancer Research UK.
One day we will beat cancer. If we are united in our efforts, that day will come sooner.
TOGETHER, WE WILL BEAT CANCER
